I love this - how did you set your camera for this shot - I am HORRIBLE with night shots!

Thanks! And I hope you are feeling better (last I read you were having surgery?).

First thing is a tripod. I left the lens open for 30 seconds, put it on a relatively low ISO (all in EXIF data). I experimented a bit with the aperture, and settled on 5.6. Next, I had my trusty assistant (:D) stand in an area with a lighter near her face so I could focus. I was sitting the whole time saying "Not too low with sparkler, not too high" hehe.

Wish me luck on Saturday when I try to shoot the DC fireworks! This was a warm up.

Actually - still working up to the surgery. The tests are really draining and prep work exhausting, but I am getting there. I should finish with the surgery actually around the 16th////almost there!

Best of luck. I'm sure it can cause a lot of stress, but they say staying positive helps in all walks of health and life for that matter.

Will do and thanks. Really - this is for the better, I will be much healthier for it. Then back out there with the ol' camera. I love learning new things!

This one is great indeed as well.

No idea whether that would be possible but: if the model could try to keep her face somehow uncovered by the light and to stand as stable as poossible withou moves of the face, the impression might be even stronger, i.e. a face framed by light..
